Bright & Funky Book Cover

Hello Blog World,

Just a quick post tonight before I serve dinner (mmm homemade vegie pizza's), then it's off to the comfort of my lounge and tv to finish the binding on my quilt.

It's been a long week after the lovely 11 days off over easter, my shoulder and neck have been playing up but I did manage to fit some crafting in.

Do you remember this fabric from this post

Well I turned it into a book cover for a friend at work, she is very bright and funky and loves pinks and purples.

She really loved it and it's another project crossed off my list.  Better yet the weekend is here and I can do some more crafting, and Sunday is Mother's day so I will be getting spoiled as well BONUS!!!

Until then, Happy Crafting

Mmmmm Cupcakes

Hello Blog World,

Firstly happy birthday Monika!! Hope you liked your pressies :)  For the birthday girl I whipped up some red velvet cupcakes.

First you need all this, plus eggs and cocoa
Mix it all together and you get this bright pink goo, it should be redder but I ran out of red food colouring.

.

Bake and decorate and WAHLAH  - this is what you get...

Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and pink sugar sprinkles.  I got the recipe from Bakerella's Site she is soooo brilliant and I absolutely love her Cake Pops,  I made heaps for Christmas last year including red velvet cake pops.  You must check it out if you enjoy baking.  However I do find her cream cheese frosting too sweet, she states 6 cups of confectioners sugar, I only use three and it is plenty sweet enough for all of us.

That wasn't the end of the spoiling for the birthday girl, I also altered an old jewellery box that I had in my stash

It was silver and purple already and quite pretty, so all I did was cut a bit of purple cardstock to cover the top and hide the jewellers name, inked a white flower in purple, glued it down and then added this white cardboard flower I picked up in a pack of 6 at spotlight a few weeks back for like $2.

The inside of the box had also been thrown out so there I used some scraps of wadding I had leftover from my wall hanging covered in some scraps of white satin I  have in my stash and glued to the bottom of the inside. Then I just sat the pretty necklace in the box.  Toooo easy!

To top it all off whacked the pressie and card which is from this post in this cute little bag.

Picked that up from Big W for only a few dollars too and double WAHLAH we have one spoiled birthday girl.

I will be back tomorrow with some more book covers I have made and if you look at the first photo in this photo heavy post you will see another sneak peek of my quilt in the background on my messy kitchen table.  All I have left is the hand sewing of the binding, not looking forward to that at all, but ALAS! it must be done if I want it finished right.

Anyway until then happy crafting

Needles and Pins

Hello Blog World,

Breakfast with hubby this morning was lovely.  It is just nice to get away for an hour just the two of us.  We went to the coffee club and I had a very naughty Iced Mocha with whipped cream and ice-cream as well as their classic breakfast which is bacon, scrambled eggs, grilled tomato and toast.  YUMMY!!

Anyways this is what I got into once we returned home.

Inside

Outside

Nothing too fancy for me, just something to store my needles.  And yes it's crooked. It wasn't crooked when I originally sewed the felt down, but when I sewed it together and turned right way in WAH LAH it was crooked.  But this is me I am talking about and I am used to crooked things!!!

I got the pattern from another fantastic blogger Ever Kelly.  Check her out she is great.

Now I need to finish this quilt and some more sewing projects I will talk about later.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting.

Heart Strings

Hello blog world.

Not too much to say today,  but with all this time off over the last week I am finally seeing some finished projects WOOHOOO!!!

I got this turned out yesterday, I have had the material sitting in my craft room for about 6 months now waiting to be made into something.

Originally thought of putting this wall hanging in my kitchen, now I am not too sure. Still need to get a rod to hang it with...more on the location later.

Next on the agenda is my needle case, but that is after my hubby takes me to breakfast this morning.

Also I will be sharing this with this great new blog I found yesterday below.  Check it out there is some awesome crafts out there.

Until later happy crafting :)

Baby Gift and a sneak peek!!

Hello blog world.

Long time no post, life has just really taken over too much at the moment.  But we've had easter and I have had some time off work and created some really good things, so stay tuned there will be a few more posts than the norm :)

Firstly one of my really close friends is pregnant!! Congrats Ali Cat.  I have her shower /  going away (sadly for me she is moving interstate for her hubby's work)  lunch next week and this is her first present.
It is a soft book I sewed together for the bubs!!

Ain't they the cutest critters!!

I bought the panel at the craft fair this year and I am really pleased with the results and it's so easy to make. So if you are looking for a quick easy yet pretty gift these soft book panels are the way to go.

Next I have to make 2 cards!!!

First  I  have more sewing, i am working on a wall hanging for my kitchen, a needle case coz I am so sick of getting jabbed everytime I go to get something from my sewing box, another book cover, an Ipod case for my daughter and the illustrious quilt, which is nearly complete!!!!  Because of your patience I have included  a sneak peek below.

OH and I nearly forgot, I am also working on my first crochet scarf and it's another friend's birthday on Tuesday, so I am making her some red velvet cupcakes to take to work for our special lunch.  (Sshh it's a secret) plus we get the left overs.

So all in all I have been pretty busy as you can see but as said before stay tuned I am going to make a conscious effort to keep this more up to date as this place is not just for whoever may be looking (if there is anyone out there) but it's for me.  A place for me to write my thoughts on crafting and my life in general and also to look back and remember and see how much I've learned and grown,

Anyways thanks for looking and happy crafting.
