Hello…

Hello Blog World,

Told you there would be more cards this week.  It is one of my main passions and now I am involved with love letters I now have an even bigger excuse to make more.

Today I am showing you a card I made using this image from Daring Card Makers

9781324160706004_MgNq9Wcn_c

Just look at those colours all propped together, how can you not be inspired!

So with that in mind this is what I came up with.

hello card

I worked with what I had, I know my colours are a bit different but I loved the colours in the inspirational photo all lined up together so much that I wanted my card to reflect the same.  Hence the multi-coloured picket fence.

hello card 2

Mmmm sorbet! This is just lots of old scrappy bits of cardstock, some bakers twine, rub ons that have been in my stash for ever and making memories die cuts.  Oh and some kindy glitz to bling up the butterflies a bit.

So this week will be the reveal of my quilt I am really looking forward to showing you all that and don’t forget to check out my pins of the day on twitter.

Until then Happy Crafting

Love Letters Random Cards of Kindness

Hello Blog World.

Easter is over for another year I hope everyone had a safe and happy one.

Today I am here to show you another card, you will probably see a lot more in the coming weeks as I need to build to my stash up again and I have also just joined up to Love Letters: Random Cards of Kindness Inc.  This is a wonderful organisation who give cards to children in hospitals throughout the U.S.  I would love to do something here but I am yet to find anything so if anyone knows of anything similar in Australia please let me know.

Also if you are a card maker and have an overabundance of cards think about donating.

Anyway on to the card…
I took this week’s Clean and Simple Sketch FTL185 and colours from CR84FN Colour Challenge

FTL185 CR84FN51 Graphic

And came up with this.

best wishes card 001

It is very clean and simple, but I like it.  I made the flowers myself by cutting out paper in a flower shape, crinkling and layering, then popped a brad in the middle to hold it all together.  I also added a touch of bling to the edges because when in doubt add glitter.

I have also used my liquid pearls to highlight the centre of each little flower on the blue paper and believe it or not the background paper is more of a peach than a pink, it’s just my stupid photography skills did not pick that up.

best wishes card 002

Exciting things this week, you will see as I said earlier more cards from me as well as the quilt reveal!

Also if you’re on twitter look me up as I have been tweeting a random pin of the day, you never know what you might find.

Until then Happy Crafting

Greetings Card

Hello Blog World,

Easter is right around the corner, is everyone ready??

Just a quick post today to show you a new card.  The mood struck so I took advantage of it and came up with this.

Greetings Card

I find it very bright and cheery and I had lots of fun cutting out the petals and distressing them.  This is one for my stash, but I may just send it down to my friend in Melbourne just because I miss her!

All supplies were from my extensive stash and include but are not limited to heidi grace paper, making memories brads, and generic cardstock and paper flowers.

Because of it’s cheery theme I have decided to enter in the following challenges.

Creative Card Crew –Spring
The Ribbon Carousel – Spring is in the air
Papertake Weekly – Anything Goes

And yes I know it’s not spring here in Australia, it is technically our Autumn but I am in sunny Queensland and it is going to be 30 degrees Celcius ( about 86 F) so it’s still quite warm here.

The long weekend is here, I am very excited, lots of housework to do, a BBQ and hopefully lots of crafting.  I am still binding my quilt, but I am only doing a little bit every night (I am very slow at hand binding).  Hopefully I can get this done by the end of the long weekend.

Until then Happy Crafting

Baby Album

Hello Blog World,

Just another quick post today to show you another layout for my daughter baby album that I worked on last night after high pressure cleaning half my house.

baby album

My gorgeous girl when she was 4 months old. Ain’t she cute!

I have had the the papers and embellishments for a while for this album, just been slack about putting them together.  This is my third page for the album you can see the other two in full detail, just click on the pics below.

Can you start to see the colour theme happening??

Oh, I forgot to mention yesterday that I have added an about me page so if anyone is interested head over here

Now I’m off to finish the high pressure cleaning. Then I might try and get that doggy bandana done or something else before the weekend ends.

Until then happy crafting

1st Wheels

Hello Blog World,

Another quick post today to show you a quick scrapbook page I did for my daughter’s baby album.  I know I know I should be sewing and painting my hutch but the scrapping mood hit and I took full advantage.

1st wheels

It’s another page for my daughter’s baby album and this photo was taken on her first birthday with her present which was one of those car things you can sit on and ride or push.  She loved it for a very long time.

Basic supplies used here, some paper flowers, heidi grace papers, hand stitching and stamps. But I do love how it turned out. I might even try to get another layout done today after I have attacked the house exterior with the pressure cleaner.

Until then Happy Crafting.

Surprise Surprise

Hello Blog World,

Just a quick post today to show you another card I have made. I seem to be back in the cardmaking business…I had so much fund making my thanks card for my friend on the weekend and with a few birthday’s coming up I thought “Hey why not, let’s make some more”.

So I took inspiration from the Clean and Simple FTL180 Sketch again but changed it up this time and paired it up with The paper players – Spring has Sprung Challenge (even though it’s autumn here)

FTL180

And I came up with this. I guess it doesn’t really look like the sketch too much anymore…

surprise surprise

Very spring has sprung if I do say so myself, also used a lot of scraps up and a flower punch for the flowers.  So this is for my stash as one of my goals this year was to give handmade cards for all events, so I need to build my stash up.

I am going to try my hand this week at a doggy bandana for my puppy so stay tuned.

Until then Happy Crafting.

A Masculine Birthday

Hello Blog World,

Today is my beautiful husbands 43rd Birthday. Happy Birthday Bubba!!!

He got spoiled with lots of pressies in bed this morning, a new PC game, a book, socks and boxers, smelly stuff and some hair clippers. We also took him out to a buffet breakfast!

And in keeping with my goals for 2012 I made him a card.

I gathered all my bits and pieces on my messy work desk

masculine birthday card 002

Lots of blues for the only boy in our life.

Found this gorgeous sketch from Clean and Simple – Sketch FTL178, I just knew it was perfect when I saw it.
FTL178

masculine birthday card 001

And put it all together. I thought I would give monochrome another try as I wasn’t overly happy with my first try last year.

And because I love bling and 3d I had to put some of that in there.

masculine birthday card 003

Needless to say he was very happy with his card, his presents and his breakfast.  We have family coming over this afternoon for cake! So I will be back later with some updates on that.

Until then Happy Crafting.

Congratulations Card

Hello Blog World,

Just a quick post today to show you a card I have been working on for my dear friends in Melbourne who just had their first baby, a beautiful baby girl Serena.

I played around with the Mojo Monday Sketch

Mojo223Sketch

Played around with papers, even went into some new stuff (the crochet flower, purple card stock and butterflies) and came up with this.

congratulations card

I like it!  So I have used a bit of new stuff here as said an some old stuff and I think it came together nicely.

I am also entering in the following challenges

Mojo Monday 223
Dream Valley Challenges – Anything Goes
Crafty Catz – Use something new challenge
& The Pink Elephant – Hearts Challenge

Also on a cool note, a couple of blogs I follow shared this wonderful site Tagxedo, it makes a word cloud out of a web address or any words you submit, and you can play around with colours and shapes. So I put in my web address and this is what it came up with.

taga

I LOVE it!!!! It’s interesting to see what words it chews out, have a go and share I would love to see others.

I didn’t get the pantry done, I think that’s going to have to wait for my week off soon but I have got my material all cut out for my quilt so I am going to go do some more sewing.

Until later Happy Crafting

Tower of Fun

Hello Blog World,

Yesterday I finally got around to doing some scrapbooking, the mood hit me a few days ago but I just couldn’t get to it straight away.

Now I am by no means an organised scrapper.  I have a folder on my computer with copies of photos I want to scrap and it just seems to keep on getting bigger and bigger.  When the mood hits, I do not do them in any order I just do what either inspires me at the time or what I feel like.

So when I saw Sketchy Thursday’s Sketch this week, inspiration struck it is such a lovely sketch and I knew what photos I was going to use straight away!

Sketch_122911

The date on my journaling should tell you just how unorganised I am.

Tower of Fun (2)

But I am quite proud of me, 12 months or not even that long ago I would have taken this sketch and pretty much copied it exact, but I have definitely put my own spin on it and I think it shows how much I am growing as a crafter in general.

Tower of Fun (1)

I did originally print out three little photo’s to go down the side strip, but I just love this photo and wanted it to be the main focus.  I am really happy with the result and this has now been swapped over with my last layout and put in my 12” x 12” shadow box frame on my bureau in my family room.  Scrapping this brought back memories of a wonderful day with my family mucking around and having a picnic in the sun.

Again I have dug deep into my stash for this, and have not bought anything new, but the following has been used.

Bella Chip Letters
Crate Paper
Bakers Twine
Kaiser Craft Star
Kaiser Craft Alphabet Rub Ons
Lots of Tim Holtz Distress Ink around the edges of the papers, and even the letters have a chalk ink on them as they were stark white and I didn’t like it that bright.
and my printer ( for the journaling and the smaller book page looking paper)

I only have 1 day left of my holidays and then I am back to work.  What to do??
Hmmmm I will go ponder that, until then Happy Crafting

More Gift Card Box Fun

Hello Blog World,

Just a quick post today to show you a couple more gift card boxes I made before Christmas using my own tutorial.

I had to make a couple this time for my daughter Tiana, so I got to play with more girlier colours this time which is always fun.

gift box 001

gift box 002

The star one is my favourite and the way just some left over wrapping paper which I still have heaps of little scraps of it left ( I don’t throw anything I think I will use away )

I was also loving the monogram look so I went that way again, needless to say Tiana loves them and she has kept them to put earrings and other teenager stuffs in!

gift box 003

Now I am off to do a bit of  a pre – new year de-clutter (I have decided I need to throw some things away or I am going to end up on that show hoarders!!!)  Then I might do some scrapbooking, haven’t done that in a while and the mood is hitting me.

If you’re interested on how I put this box together, check out my free tutorial here.

 Until then Happy Crafting.

Paper Bags

Hello Blog World,

OK so it is now only 1 day to Christmas (panic setting in).  Just a quick post today to show you a little goody I made up quickly with a great tutorial.

Thursday I showed you my triumph and my fail with my shortbread

shortbread 02 shortbread 01

Well of course I couldn’t stop there with the handmade goodness.  I had to pop these lovelies into something pretty.

So I went scavenging around the internet and came across this fabulous tutorial from Jones Design Company for these beautiful paper bag.

IMG_9442

These looked so easy to make from their great tutorial I just had to give it a go, and even though I loved their stripy papers I have heaps of digitals on my hard drive I thought best to bring them out.

So I had three to make and I wanted them all different so I printed three different papers out.

lunch bags 001

The Ho Ho Ho paper is my favourite.  Followed the tutorial successfully and made these great baggies.

lunch bags 003 lunch bags 004 lunch bags 005

Again they were soooooooooooooo easy, I will definitely be pulling this tute out for future thank you gifts.  This time I wrapped some shortbread in cellophane and popped them in the bag, but you could use it for anything.  Lollies, chocolates, jewellery, the list could really go on and on.

I also made a little sticker for each to close the bag, with just a stamp and some card stock and double sided sticker sheets.

lunch bags 002

I love them all lined up in a row like this

lunch bags 006

Needless to say my work mates were very happy and were in awe of all my cleverness (hehehe modesty), it’s quite good actually because they are not very crafty and really do appreciate it when I whip out something for them.

So with Christmas only 1 day away I have lots of cooking and cleaning and general preparations to do.  I won’t be back until after Christmas, but when I am back I will have some truffles, hand made presents and another gift card box to show you. So to all my followers, all 19 of you, and to anyone who reads this Have a very safe and merry Christmas, may all our days be joyous and full of laughter and wonderful memories in the making.

Until then Happy Crafting

Long Gift Box

Hello Blog World,

With only 5 Days to go I am still in full Christmas mode, making gifts, tags, boxes, cards and I even went to spotlight today and bought some food dye so I can make some Christmassy coloured sweet stuffs soon!!

You did see a sneak peak of the box I am showing you today on Saturday in this post.

gift card box0

But here today I have the close up version.  Firstly one of my close friends is a smoker and she has been wanting one of those long cigarette holders you see in the old black and white movies, well when I was out shopping the other night I was passing a tobacconist and thought hmm I wonder.  I went in and asked and yes they had one.  (sorry no photo, it’s already wrapped)

audrey-hepburn-cigarette-holder

You get the picture though right? Well it only came in plastic so I didn’t want to wrap it like that, so I made a box.

Thanks to this old website for the posted tutorial way back in 2008, I made this beatiful box with red papers as it’s her favourite colour.

long box 1

Doesn’t the paper scream Christmas and make your eyes go funny looking at it.

long box 2

So this is the box almost complete, looking good so far.

long box 4 long box 5

So wah lah one completed pen box, which is the perfect size for the cigarette holder, it’s about 8” x 1" 1/2” and the lid just slides off and on.  I even made another gift tag, similar to my purple tags to attach to the box.  Now I just hope she likes it.

long box 3

So I have one more present to make and it’s already half done, just waiting on the paint to dry, then tomorrow shortbread and if I get time oreo truffles, mmmmmmmm yummy.

Until then Happy Crafting.
