My First Fabric Rosette

Hello Blog World,

2 things I have wanted in the last 12 months is learn how to make those fabric rosettes you see everywhere on the net.   So after open day at school where my daughter's team came equal last in her math's trivia (hey least she tried, I know I wouldn't have got a single question right), and after shopping and after footy (YAY my team won again!), I ventured into my craft room and gave these little flowers that have been in my mind a whirl!!

sorry about the shadow, when I finally got to this there was no natural light left.

Not too bad for my first try, (sorry the photo isn't overly spectacular).  The 2nd thing I have wanted is a big flower ring!! Now I have pretty chubby fingers (hehe matches the rest of me) so it can be difficult to find rings that fit, so I always intended on making one just never found the right bit to go with it. I have also been slack and never bought the ring bottoms to motivate me.  But when I stumbled across this blog by Christa and saw how she made her rings a little creative theft was what I did.

I also went into recycle mode as the material is an old pair of hubby's satin boxer shorts where the elastic has gone in them and the elastic for the ring is a hair tie that snapped!!

All in all I am very happy with my first try, there are bits of glue that I can see but I wore it to work today and a colleague absolutely gushed over it and now I have to make her one in red!

Thanks Christa for the fantastic idea and now I am off to make some more  (need the practice before I make one for my friend)

Until then Happy Crafting :)

Watercolour Sky

Hello Blog World,

I didn't get too much achieved yesterday, and I think today is going to be the same.  We need to head out shortly for an open day at my daughter's school where she is showing off her mathematical brain, then I need to do some shopping, come home and listen to the footy.  At least dinner is already done, some beautiful minestrone soup in the slow cooker.  Smells fantastic.

Before I discovered the wonderful world of papercraft about 5 years ago I used to do alot of painting and drawing.  But since I moved interstate and discovered papercraft (thanks to my fab sister in law) painting and drawing has really taken a back burner to this new passion of mine.  Well yesterday I wanted to do something after my housework, I just didn't know what.  So I pottered in my craft room and discovered the water colours I bought last year on my holiday with my friends and I thought hmmmm what can I do.  So I played around with them and came up with this...

I haven't done too much in watercolours so I am pretty happy with this.  I love how bright I got my colours, this is only A4 size, so not too big, but I am going to frame it and maybe put it in my craft room.

Well off I go to get ready for my busy day, maybe just maybe I can fit some craft time in there before the weekend ends.  Until later happy crafting.

What a week

Hello Blog World,

Well the weekend is finally here and after the mixed week I had it couldn't have come quick enough.  I will only bore you with the good news.  My beautiful daughter Tiana has been selected to represent her school in a maths competition next month. I couldn't be more prouder.  I will let you know how she goes!!

I got a little crafting done through the week, worked on another layout of my trip last year.  I used the Sassy Lil' Sketches May 14th sketch

And I came up with this...

It was a great sketch to work with, like all their sketches.  Check them out if you are ever stuck for ideas.
I used a mixed bag of goodies on this, the bead and shell border thingy was given to me years ago and I thought I would never use it, but when I saw the sketch and grabbed my photos etc.. I knew that they would fit!! So the moral is never throw anything out!!!  I also used Heidi Grace papers, making memories  papers, martha stewart edge punch and bella chip letters and look  I managed to work some stitching in and my famous strip journalling.

So this is a just another layout of our trip last year and this is my hubby and my dear friend messing around on the border of QLD and NSW.

Now the weekend is here I am going to get some more crafting in, maybe another page, maybe some sewing or maybe some cards. I haven't decided yet, gotta do some dreaded housework first.

Until then happy crafting :)

Good Luck Card

Hello Blog World.

Just a really quick post today to share a card I quickly made.

I used this Mojo Monday sketch ( but finished it too late to submit) and the Color Lab Challenge

And with these two challenges in mind I came up with this...

I am pretty happy with this one, anyway we are having take away tonight so while I have a chance I might try and get some more crafting in before the weekend hits...hmmm what to do??
Until later happy crafting :)

Monochromatic

Hello Blog World,

Just a quick post this morning before I head off to work to share a cad I made yesterday before the footy started.  And yes my team won!!!

I really wanted to challenge myself and I when I saw the shabby tea room's challenge this week I knew it would definitely challenge me.  This week it is monochromatic, something I had never intentionally tried.  So I grabbed the Clean & Simple FTL141 Sketch

Decided I would use a colour I am definitely not overly comfortable with, which is blue, and I came up with this...

It's not too bad, for my first try I guess and look I managed to work my new twine into it.

Well I need to go and get ready for boring work but until later happy crafting.

Lime Green Card??

Hello Blog World,

Just a quick post this morning to share a card I made yesterday.  I am thoroughly enjoying all these challenges I am entering lately, it is really taking me out of my comfort zone and I think ultimately improving my card making skills...(sometimes)

This Card was a bit difficult for me as lime green is not a colour I would normally use, had to dig deep in my stash to find it as well as grey, this pattern paper was the only grey I could find so I had to work around it.  All in all I am happy with result.

I used the Color Throwdown Challenge and the Clean & Simple FTL140 Sketch as my inspiration

As I said, definitely out of my comfort zone.  Well my beloved football team (Collingwood) is playing today, so I will be watching that this afternoon maybe doing some more work on my cross-stitch but before that I have a whole morning where I might try and get some more cards done or a layout or all of the above depending on how motivated I get.  Until then Happy Crafting :)

Goodies and a Layout

Hello Blog World,

So the head cold is finally on it's way out WOOHOO!! Just in time for the weekend.  Obviously feeling a bit ill there was not much time to do any crafting through the week except finish the layout I was working on last week.   But firstly I got myself some goodies in the mail this week also and I am soooo excited I just have to share.

Iphone 4
Twine Glorious Twine

I have wanted an Iphone since they first came out (I know how lame)  but I finally got one!!! YAY!  And I am seeing this beautiful twine everywhere lately on cards and layouts etc...so it has taken me some time (yes I am slow) but I finally got some for my stash.  I know I am soooooo going to have to use it this weekend, ain't they all beautiful.

As for my layout I used Sassy Lil' Sketches May 7th Sketch

And came up with this...

I have decided I love stitching around my pages as a border effect and I love journalling strips.  I seem to keep using them a lot on layouts lately.  Anyway this is from my  holiday last year where my hubby and 2 lovely friends and I went exploring the Crystal Castle down in Mullimbimbi N.S.W,  such a beautiful tranquil place if you can ever get yourself there I highly recommend it.

Ingredients are:
  • Heidi Grace Papers
  • Kaiser Craft Wooden Flowers
  • Bella Chipboard Letters
  • Unknown Brand of Card Stock
  • My Sewing Machine
  • Foam for a bit of popping
  • DMC Embroidery Floss

Well I don't know what the weekend holds, maybe some more cards, maybe another layout, maybe some sewing.  Stay tuned next week and you may see.  Until then Happy Crafting :)

Head Cold and a Card

Hello Blog World,

Wow! I have a horrible head cold and generally feel quite unwell.  I did manage to get some crafting in yesterday, a card and the majority of a layout which I will finish tonight.

As for the card I used the colours from this weeks Color Throwdown challenge  and the clean & simple sketch

And this is what I came up with...

It's not too bad, just another card for my stash. Well I am off now to have a nap and hopefully clear this cold and finish some scrapbooking, maybe not even that order. Until then happy crafting.

Just For You Card

Good Morning Blog World,

Just a quick post to share a card I did yesterday.  After housework and watching the footy replay, I managed to fit one card in.

I worked with this colorlab challenge and the Mojo Monday sketch

And I came up with this....

Still trying to decide whether I like this or not.  My photo is also not the greatest, but my camera is not working well and I had to use my mobile phone.  But the bottom panel is a light blue to represent the touch of baja breeze and so is the bottom right button.  Hopefully I can get my camera fixed soon.

Well my hubby is taking me to breakfast again and then we are off to do some shopping.  Need some new clothes for winter and then home for more crafting.  I am definitely going to get another card done and hopefully a scrapbook page, just can't decide whether it should be the baby album or photos from my holiday last year.

Until then happy crafting :)

On The Go

Hello Blog World,

The weekend is here again, and I am hoping to get some serious crafting done!!  I only discovered scrapbooking and papercrafts in general about 5 years ago with the help of my fabulous sister in law.  How I wish I had discovered it a lot earlier in life, especially when my darling daughter was a baby.  She is now one month off 13 and I am finally putting together a baby album.

Here is the first page I have done, I am keeping an all pink and yellow theme throughout the album I have decided and so far I am pretty happy.

This is Tiana, when she first started to crawl, and since then she just has not stopped moving!!

I used this photo from The Shabby Tea Room's photo inspiration challenge. As well as Heidi Grace papers and alot of other pink stuff from my stash!

Isn't it divine? Look at all those ruffles!!  Most people (myself included) normally submit a card project, which is what I was going to do.  But then I saw the baby photo's I had printed out and it kinda came to me!  I am quite pleased with the results.

Well I am off again, hopefully to do some more scrapbooking and get some more cards done, until then happy crafting :)

Baby Block

Hello Blog World,

What a busy couple of days it has been... more with work than anything else.  Sunday didn't turned out as planned unfortunately, I had all these grand plans of scrapbooking and card making after finishing my baby block but ALAS! that did not happen.

Well remember this baby book from this post

Well the material panel had the cutest animals left on it on blank white background and they were just way too cute to throw away, I let them sit there for a week while I decided what to do with them.  I thought of appliqueing them to bibs, jumpsuits etc... In the end I decided to make it into a baby block.

It even has a rattle in it....but this little sucker put my day into slow motion.   I cut all my material out, sewed it together, cut my animals out, stuck them where I wanted with fusible webbing then went to machine applique them on and NOOOOOO the stitches on the machine are too big and it looked awful.  So off I went and unpicked the little bit I started and went and sat down and watched my Medium DVD box set and hand appliqued them all on.  Finally finished at 6pm that night, didn't cook because it was mother's day so hubby decided to cook which was very lovely of him, so off I went to sew the block all together.  That went very well, sewed it up, turned it out and started to stuff it.  Well I forgot that when my puppy was even a younger puppy she got into my stuffing one day and destroyed half of it, so I didn't have enough and being Sunday night I couldn't get anymore until the next day.  That's when I gave up :)

Monday came and I bought some new stuffing and WAHLAH!!! All done :) I gave this to my expecting friend today and she loved it.  I am soooooo happy.

Well I am off to hopefully finish the binding on my quilt and maybe some crocheting...until then happy crafting.
